The Departure of StatusBar+

As of tonight it is official, StatusBar+ has been sold on Apptopia and is no longer part of our collection. It is with both pain and pleasure that we bring you this announcement. For over a year, StatusBar+ has been a wonderful and unique addition to The Seven+ Project, but as I start my first year in college it has entered a state of neglect. Given our lack of support, we believe that its sale is in both our and our user’s best interest. We would like to thank you all for your continued patience and support as we look forward to future development.

Calculating Infinity

Aside

Oddly enough, The Seven+ (when Windows Phone 7) Calculator was one of our first applications when we began work last August, 2011, and now it is the first to go. Today, we published the final update to The Seven+ WP7 Calculator on Google Play, AndroidPit, and uploaded the latest APK to our website. After fumbling to the finish line, we listened to your feedback and have decided to remove StartApp and are no longer pursuing a monetization strategy. It is, as it always has been, completely free. Anonymous bug reporting and analytics can both be disabled by disabling “Anonymous reporting” in the settings menu, and otherwise the only big change is better international support. Now, commas and periods during calculations are based off of your device’s current system language. That about wraps it up for the latest (and last) update, don’t forget to try it out yourself.

Try It Before You Buy It

When StatusBar+ was first released, there was only a paid version. It had one feature: “Enable the custom status bar.” This was revolutionary because prior to September 10th, 2011, most Android users would have never though that a custom status bar was even possible without rooting your device and flashing a custom ROM. Well we not only proved that it is possible, but we are proving that by making a custom status bar an app the possibilities are endless!

We are working on greatly enhancing StatusBar+. When it was first released it did not support third-party notifications, hiding in full screen applications, or just about anything it does now! As one would imagine, it is quite difficult to create a custom status bar as it is not a “normal” kind of application, especially given the over 1,400 different Android devices running Eclair 2.1 or higher. We want everyone to experience StatusBar+ for themselves, but of course we need to support our time and effort in development. Today, StatusBar+ Lite is now StatusBar+ Trial, a full-featured 14-day free trial of StatusBar+. It should allow the user to get a feel for the app and hopefully be amazed by what it can do. Enough so to consider supporting us and purchasing the full version.

We understand that not every user has a credit card and that is why StatusBar+ is also available on AndroidPit and can be purchased using PayPal.

StatusBar+ Reaches Beta

StatusBar+ beta one Screenshot

Happy New Years everyone! Our gift to you comes in the form of an update for StatusBar+, which is now in beta. Among the new features includes automatic full-screen detection (no more choosing which applications to auto-hide in), notification support (when StatusBar+ is enabled in Settings > Accessibility), the ability to remove the ongoing notification, an option for rooted users on Gingerbread – Honeycomb that removes the system status bar completely, and an improved user interface featuring new Zune-style pivots.

Remember that while StatusBar+ is no longer in its alpha stage of development, bugs are still likely present. Being as unique of an application as it is, StatusBar+ may not work perfectly on every device. As always if you run into an issue please send us an email stating your device, firmware, and a description of the problem. Leaving comments in the Android Market will not allow us to address the issue.

That is it for now, so thank you to all of our beta testers for providing valuable feedback, and cheers to a New Year, 2012 here we come!

Seven+ Calculator Now Open Source, Version Gamma Two

Aside

The Seven+ Calculator has found its way to version gamma two, mostly just fixing a few small bugs. That, and as part of the Seven+ Project’s open source initiative it is now free and open source! Just like StatusBar+ it is done so under the Apache 2.0 License and is available for download on GitHub. Please get the latest update on the Android Market and do not forget to update your comment/ rating.

StatusBar+ upgraded to Alpha Three

Are you using StatusBar+, or waiting for a good reason to purchase the full version? Well now is the time. It has been upgraded to version Alpha Three and now includes the following features/ fixes:

  • Added the ability to auto-hide the status bar when a given application is opened (experimental).
  • Automatically drops the signal indicator when in a call.
  • Added the ability to disable the swipe to display the system notification panel.
  • Added a battery percent indicator.
  • Plays nice with WidgetLocker and NoLock (experimental).
  • Fixed bug with scrolling in icon list.
  • Fixed bug with hiding time/ signal strength.
  • Fixed Wi-Fi pulsation when searching/ connecting to a network.
  • Removed overscroll glow in all lists (GB+).

Please remember that if you do not see the icons you need only click and they will appear, and if you run into issues (which is very possible), emailing us is preferred to a Market comment if you wish to see the issue resolved. For those using StatusBar+ Lite please consider purchasing the full version if you want the latest features, settings, and bug fixes. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting this application, especially those who have been reporting bugs and waiting patiently for them to be fixed.
